The Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Michoacán calls for nominations for the State Awards for Science, Technology, Outreach, Linkage and Recognition of Innovation 2023.
The purpose of this award is to recognize scientific, technological and innovation research and development in the State, the work of science and technology outreach, as well as achievements in linkage that contributed to the economic and social development of Michoacán.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION:
In each of the categories, a grant of $50,000 (fifty thousand pesos 00/100 M.N) will be awarded, in addition to a recognition signed by the Governor of the State of Michoacán.

MSCA Postdoctoral fellowships PF aims at supporting the international mobility of researchers within (European Fellowships) and beyond Europe (Global Fellowships). The grant usually covers two years' salary, a mobility allowance, research costs and overheads for the host institution. Family and special needs allowances are also available, when applicable.
There are two types of Individual Fellowships:

Call for HE Connects grants from the British Council
The HE Connects grants from the British Council support collaborations between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK, Mexico and Brazil in transnational education and internationalization.
Through this call, grants will be awarded to HEIs for amounts ranging from £20,000 to £30,000, depending on the number of participating institutions, for the development of activities that favor the internationalization of the Higher Education sector, with a focus on capacity building to address common challenges for student mobility, scientific cooperation, recognition and validation of university degrees, as well as for other priorities in transnational education.
Note: HE Connects grants consider students and faculty/staff exchange, dual degree programs, among others. The scholarship can be used for publication costs, travel, conference registration, equipment, etc.

Programa Becas Santander
“ChatGPT 2023” Scholarship
Dear Community,
The Santander Scholarship Program has announced the “ChatGPT 2023” Scholarship, whose aim is to strengthen knowledge and employability through training in the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot prototype.
Who can apply?
The entire university community: professors, administrative staff and students from all semesters and areas of study, as well as recent graduates from public or private Mexican universities.
Characteristics of the Scholarships:
Scholarship recipients will have access to 58 self-managed online courses that address topics in ChatGPT (the list of courses can be found in the legal bases of the program available in the section "Legal bases of the call”), which allows the scholarship recipients to take the courses of his/her preference.
The program will have three access groups (each of 45 persons) to carry out the courses, the scholarship holder will be able to choose one of the three groups in the registration form according to the following information:
Dates:
- Group 1: From 3 October to 19 November 2023 (45 scholarships)
- Group 2: From November 20 to January 7, 2024 (45 scholarships)
- Group 3: From January 8 to February 25, 2024 (45 scholarships)
The beneficiaries will have to complete the available courses during the aforementioned dates. Upon completing a total of 30 hours of courses, the beneficiary will receive a certificate issued by UDEMY.

We wish to draw your attention to the next Call for Standard and SAO Large Scale Observing Proposals for observations with the Submillimeter Array (SMA). This call is for the 2023B semester, with the observing period 16 Nov 2023 – 15 May 2024.
Proposal Submission deadline: Wednesday, 20 September 2023 20:00 UTC (16:00 EDT).
We wish to highlight important upgrades to the data reduction path, which now include the ability to convert raw or calibrated SMA data into MeasurementSet format for reduction and/or imaging within CASA.

This call is focused on promoting projects in relevant and strategic areas, seeking complementarity and balance of interests of both countries. In this sense, it is a requirement that Chilean and Mexican institutions are actively committed to promote joint projects.
The projects must contemplate a maximum contribution from the Fund of up to US$250,000.00 (two hundred and fifty thousand United States dollars) and consider a period of execution of the activities of no more than 24 months.

The IAC has announced the opening of the next call for the IAC Early Career Visitor Program. The goal of the program is to enhance the development of astronomers during the early stages of their scientific careers, leveraging the unparalleled scientific environment offered by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
The IAC Early Career Visitor Program will finance stays of one to three months at the IAC for researchers with up to four years of postdoctoral experience.
The application process for visits during the first half of 2024 (January - June) will remain open until December 1, 2023.

The CONAHCyT invites public and private Higher Education Institutions, Public Centers for Humanistic and Scientific Research, Technological Development and Innovation, and in general federal and state institutions of the public sector that have a registration or pre-registration certificate in the CONAHCyT, and that develop research activities in the humanities, sciences, technologies and innovation, to submit proposals aimed at generating frontier knowledge.
Proposals must be submitted by researchers who are beginning their academic or scientific career, attached to public and private IES, Public Centers and in general to federal and state institutions of the public sector that have a proof of registration or pre-registration to the National Information System or belong to the Researchers for Mexico Program, who have a doctorate degree and/or belong to the National System of Researchers (SNI).
For each proposal, the maximum amount will be up to $1,500,000.00 (one million five hundred thousand pesos), divided equally in three stages. A work plan and budget will be submitted for each stage, which will be developed throughout the corresponding fiscal year.

The IAU is inviting applications for its 2023 PhD prize, an award which celebrates the outstanding accomplishments made globally by PhD researchers in astrophysics. The deadline for applications is 15 December 2023.
The IAU PhD Prize is open to candidates from any country, regardless of whether the country is an IAU National Member. In addition, a separate prize is available to be awarded to applicants from developing countries (defined as those not in the OECD).
Eligible PhD theses for the 2023 Prize are those which have been defended between 16 December 2022 and 15 December 2023. Theses which are in preparation or submitted but not yet defended by 15 December 2023 are not eligible for the 2023 Prize.

The Staff Exchanges action funds short-term international and inter-sectoral exchanges of staff members involved in research and innovation activities of participating organisations.
Staff Exchanges are open to international consortia of universities, research institutions, businesses, SMEs and other non-academic organisations. They need to include
* at least three organisations in three different countries, two of which need to be located in a different EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country
* above this minimum, the participation of organisations from any country is possible

The DAAD has once again published its call for applications for scholarship programs for short research stays in Germany, both for doctoral students and young academics as well as for academics and scientists who have already completed their doctorate and are working at universities or research centers in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The National Autonomous University of Mexico, through the Coordination of Humanities (CoHu), the Coordination of Scientific Research (CIC) and the General Secretariat, invites the academic entities of each subsystem to nominate full-time academic staff to occupy the Extraordinary Professorship of Excellence UNAM-Sorbonne Université during 2024. The Professorship of Excellence is open to all disciplinary fields of the three faculties of the Sorbonne University (Letters; Sciences and Engineering; Medicine), of the entities belonging to the two research subsystems (Humanities and Scientific Research) and of all the Faculties and Schools of UNAM.
The Professorship will finance four full-time academics: one assigned to an entity belonging to the Humanities subsystem; one assigned to an entity belonging to the Scientific Research subsystem; and two assigned to a Faculty or School, to carry out a one-month stay at any of the campuses of the Sorbonne University in France.
Applicants who receive a favorable opinion from the Executive Committee to occupy the Professorship will be assigned a funding of 3,000 € (three thousand euros), which will be used mainly to cover the cost of their stay in France and round trip airfare (Mexico-France-Mexico).

Nominations are open from now until 15 March for the 2024 IAU Astronomy Outreach, Development and Education (ODE) Prizes. Launched in 2022, these prizes recognise individuals and organisations who have made outstanding contributions to astronomy outreach, development, or education. They are awarded every three years at the IAU General Assembly. The 2024 round of awards will be presented at the IAU XXXII General Assembly (IAU GA 2024), which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 6 to 15 August 2024.

The IAU ODE Prizes may honour either lifetime achievements or major one-off projects. Eligible candidates shall be professional scientists, educators, science communicators or capacity-builders. The Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (ICTI) invites the scientific and technological community attached to Higher Education Institutions (HEI), Research Centers (CI), companies and other public and private organizations, to join the Michoacan Researchers' Register (PIIM).

CONAHCyT invites researchers of Mexican or foreign nationality, with a Doctorate degree or Researchers for Mexico-Conahcyt who have a secondment or commission in a Public Institution of Higher Education (IES) or Public Center for Humanistic and Scientific Research, Technological Development and Innovation (Public Center) and with an approved sabbatical period, to participate in the selection process to obtain a consolidation grant for one of the following types of stay:
* National Sabbatical Stays.- To carry out a sabbatical stay in one or two national institution different from the one of assignment or commission. Monthly financial support for maintenance of $25,000.00.
* Sabbatical stays abroad - To carry out a sabbatical stay in one or two institutions abroad. Monthly financial support for maintenance of USD$ 1,500.00.
The duration of the stay per receiving institution may be a minimum of six months, and in no case shall it exceed the maximum period of 12 months.

The CONAHCyT invites Mexican nationals belonging to an Indigenous Community with a doctoral degree who have been admitted for a Postdoctoral Stay in a Public Institution of Higher Education (IES), Public Center for Humanistic and Scientific Research, Technological Development and Innovation (Public Center), agencies or entities of the Federal Public Administration (APF), to participate in the process of allocation of a consolidation scholarship, according to the following modalities:
Modality 1. Postdoctoral Academic Stay: To carry out a Postdoctoral Research Stay in an IES or Public Center, developing projects to strengthen the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge (LGAC), as well as the possibility of teaching and thesis direction, or activities related to universal access to knowledge.

The ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship programme (ETH Fellows) supports incoming postdoctoral researchers at ETH Zurich. The programme is intended to foster young researchers who have already demonstrated scientific excellence in the early stages of their careers.
Applications have to be supported by an ETH Zurich professor who is willing to act as the mentor of the fellow. A professor may only submit with one candidate in each evaluation round. eROSITA - Science and Data Analysis School
This eROSITA - Science and Data Analysis School is organized by the AHEAD2020 project in the European Union framework program Horizons 2020.
This school is aimed at PhD Students and early career Postdocs who are already or intending to analyze eROSITA data.
The Max-Planck-Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) is hosting this school. The experts at MPE, who have developed, built, and run eROSITA, will give an in-depth introduction to how the X-ray telescope works, is calibrated, and how the data should be analyzed using the pipelines developed at MPE.
